St James CE Primary Academy caters for children between the ages of 5 (in the academic year of admission) and 11. The academy does not have a nursery linked to it and attendance at any specific nursery does not ensure automatic admittance to St James CE Primary Academy.
Our latest Admissions Policy can be viewed clicking on the 'Policies' tab on our website and also on Wakefield Council’s website: www.wakefield.gov.uk. Admission to the academy is in the September of the academic year. Children are received into the reception class once a year. All children will be given an opportunity to spend time in the reception class prior to beginning at our academy.
A welcome meeting, for the parents of children starting at our academy in September each year, is held each June/July, whilst the children will make a morning visit in July. They will be able to stay for lunch and then go home shortly afterwards.
Families who have been successful in attaining a place in the reception year will be contacted shortly after receiving confirmation from the local authority.
There are opportunities for families to visit the academy up to the admissions form deadline in January each year.
