Inter School Indoor Athletics
On Wednesday 18th October, 16 children from Years 5 & 6 were invited down to Kettlethorpe High School to participate in an Inter-School Indoor Athletics Tournament.
The children were given an open invitation to have a go at the different events during a lunchtime and it was a pleasure to have children turn up, who wouldn’t normally be involved in sporting events.
These children gave up their lunchtime to practise the different events which included field events and track events. The field events included: standing long jump, vertical jump, standing triple jump, speed bounce, chest thrown and javelin. The track events included: 1X1 relay, 2X2 relay, 1X2 relay, 6 lap team relay, 4X1 relay and 4X2 relay.
The children only had one lunchtime to practise the different events before competing and on the day they were all absolutely fantastic. We managed to come 2nd in the competition which is wonderful! The children were a credit to the school with their brilliant sportsmanship and effort in the tournament. They cheered each other on and celebrated the other schools with their achievements.
We had an excellent time at this tournament and it was great to see all the children enjoy themselves and leave with a smile! A massive thank you to the continued support of the parents at the event and transporting the children there.
