As you will know from previous correspondence, Mr Duce leaves us tomorrow for his new Deputy Headteacher role. We are proud of him, his role and his achievements at St James. He leaves as a trusted and respected friend. We all offer him our best wishes and thanks.
A huge thank you to everyone who came and supported the book fair recently. We raised a fantastic £639.00, the most we have raised for over 5 years! We received 100% commission and have purchased lots of new books for our school library. These will be available to borrow from September.
We have been asked to mention the above event taking place on Sunday 6th August 1.00pm – 3.00pm run by the ‘Friends of Betty Eastwood Park’. This is aimed at children under 10yrs and is free. Families just need to bring a picnic, a teddy and a blanket.
Calendars were dispatched recently and handbooks (including the new Home/School Agreement) was sent out today via Parent Mail. They are fully up-to-date and are worth a read as they contain some revisions to reward and sanctions systems, amongst other things, for next year. The Home/School Agreement is brand new and designed in conjunction with the Parent Partnership – please take a read of this as we expect everyone to work towards this from September. Please note that, at the request of Travelling Books, we have had to move the Autumn Bookfair to 10th-13th November and the Reception Bedtime Stories event will now take place on Tuesday 14th November to coincide with this. This is a change to the original list for reasons beyond our control. We apologise for any inconvenience. UPON REQUEST AT THE MAIN OFFICE, WE WILL HAPPILY PRINT COPIES OF THE CALENDAR OR HANDBOOK. ALTERNATELY, YOU CAN VISIT OUR WEBSITE FOR A DOWNLOADABLE PDF VERSION.
The SAL’S SHOES campaign continues and culminates this week. Please continue to offer your donated shoes via the collection bins at the front of school and hopefully your child will be able to take part in the leave school, leave our shoes at the end of tomorrow – as per my previous correspondence. Many thanks in advance for your support.
Please can you ensure that your children do not play on the adventure trail, golf course or cycle track after school. This has been a request I have made several times this year. These are unsupervised areas at this time and should not be used.
Finally, thank you for your continued support during 2016/2017. I would particularly like to thank our Parent Partnership team for their fabulous backing and fund raising efforts. We are very lucky to have such fabulous children, staff, families and governors within our school community and I wish all of you a happy, safe and peaceful holiday. See you on Tuesday 5th September.
