During 2017 we undertook a review of our current approach to our wider curriculum (this formed a key objective on our 2017/2018 ADP) in particular reviewing our learning challenge method in non-core subjects. To do this we first consulted stakeholders to gather their views and then took a wide ranging consultation of our pupils to gather their views and perspectives. During this time the academy appointed two Development Plan Leaders for 2017/2018 (Mrs Joyce & Miss Purves) to lead upon the final stages of the consultation and then undertook the final review and re-design. Mrs Joyce and Miss Purves have now completed the consultation, the review and the initial re-design. This is now in trial format in KS1 and UKS2, in Spring 2018, with a view to fully implementing this in final form across years 1 to 6 from Summer Term 2018. We are currently on course to achieve this. Staff are receiving final training and subject leaders are now undertaking initial work to re-align some of their activities to fit with the new design.
During the review phase, the decision was taken to undertake detailed planning work with the non-core curriculum, but to include science, religious education, English and mathematics under this one central banner (although standing alone as subjects) and subsequent to this that decided to bring all aspects of our offer as a primary school under the one title: 'Circle of Life'.
Below you will find the final whole school overview documents. A life size version appears in our school main entrance alongside our 'Welcome to the Academy' film.
A copy of the final stakeholder evaluation report is available upon request to the academy and a paper copy is available in the main entrance.
